Summary

In May 2023, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) experienced an unchanged rise of 8.7% over the previous 12 months. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) revealed intentions to collaborate more closely with the industry to combat criminal activity following incidents of food fraud. On May 31, 2023, the Australia and New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the UK officially came into effect. Furthermore, the UK's request to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) is expected to be approved later this year. Despite these developments, the meat supply chains in Britain remain susceptible to antibiotic failure, posing potential risks.
